This revolutionary system combines cutting-edge machine learning with expert grader oversight, offering collectors a level of accuracy, consistency, and transparency never before seen in the industry.
Why AI Grading Matters
The traditional grading process can be influenced by human subjectivity and natural inconsistencies. With AI, we remove bias and add precision.
✅ Faster grading turnaround
✅ Objective and consistent assessments
✅ Transparency in defect detection and centering
✅ Backed by human verification for collector trust
How the SSINT AI Grader Works
Step 1 – High-Resolution Scanning:
Each card is captured in ultra-high detail.
Step 2 – Dual AI Models:
Two AI models analyse the card independently, cross-verifying results to eliminate errors.
Step 3 – Defect Detection:
The system inspects corners, edges, and surface for whitening, scratches, or flaws.
Step 4 – Centering Precision:
Our centering tool measures alignment to a standard no human eye can match.
Step 5 – Expert Verification:
Every grade is confirmed by our professional grading team before it is finalised.
Defect Grading Methodology
At SSINT Ltd., each trading card is carefully evaluated
based on three key factors: Corners, Edges, and Surface. These aspects
determine the overall condition of the card and ensure a fair and consistent
grading standard. Following are the details:
🟦 Corners – sharpness and whitening
🟩 Edges – wear and consistency
🟥 Surface – scratches, print lines, and imperfections
Grading Formula:
Front Grade = (Corner Grade + Edge Grade + Surface Grade)/3
Back Grade = (Corner Grade + Edge Grade + Surface Grade)/3
Centering Grading
Centering is critical to a card’s overall grade. Our software engineers have designed the industry’s most accurate centering tool, with a weighted approach:
Centring Grade = (0.6 × Front Centering) + (0.4 × Back Centering)
This ensures the front alignment carries more influence while still accounting for the back.
Final Grade = (0.6 × Front Grade) + (0.4 × Back Grade)
This weighting ensures the front of the card carries more importance — just as collectors value it most.
Grading Example
Let's walk through a real example to see how our grading
system works:
Card Assessment Results
Front of Card:
- Corners:
9 - Edges:
9 - Surface:
10
Back of Card:
- Corners:
8 - Edges:
9 - Surface:
8
Calculation Process
Step 1: Calculate Front Grade
Front Grade = (9 + 9 + 10) / 3
Front Grade = 28 / 3
Front Grade = 9.33
Step 2: Calculate Back Grade
Back Grade = (8 + 9 + 8) / 3
Back Grade = 25 / 3
Back Grade = 8.33
Step 3: Calculate Final Grade
Final Grade = (Front Grade × 0.6) + (Back Grade × 0.4)
Final Grade = (9.33 × 0.6) + (8.33 × 0.4)
Final Grade = 5.60 + 3.33
Final Grade = 8.93 ≈ 9
How Our Centering Software Works
What is Card Centering?
Card centering measures how evenly the image is positioned
within the card's borders. It's a critical factor in determining a card's
overall grade. Our automated centering tool uses industry-standard measurement
protocols to give you accurate, instant centering assessments.
Our Measurement Technology
The 10-Point Border System
Our tool uses a precise 10-point border system based on
professional grading standards. The system starts at 1 on the outer edge
and descends to 10 as measurements move inward in 1mm increments. We've
implemented thinner graduated lines in our digital measurements to ensure
maximum accuracy when analysing your cards.
Automatic Card Type Detection
Our software can adjust to your card type and applies the
correct measurement parameters:
- Standard Sports Cards (89mm x 64mm): Our tool aligns to the outer border
- Pokémon & MTG Cards (88mm x 63mm): Our tool aligns to the inner border
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards (86mm x 59mm)
This ensures that every card is measured according to its
specific dimensions for the most accurate results.
How Our Tool Calculates Your Centering Score
When we upload an image of your card, our automated system
performs the following analysis:
Step 1: Border Detection and Measurement
Our tool defines the card edges and measures the border
thickness from the very edge inward on all four sides:
- Left border
- Right border
- Top border
- Bottom border
Step 2: Ratio Calculation
The system then calculates two critical ratios:
- Left to Right ratio: Compares the left and right border measurements
- Top to Bottom ratio: Compares the top and bottom border measurements
Step 3: Score Conversion
Our tool converts these measurements into ratio scores using industry standard grading scale:
Example: If our system measures 4 on the left
border and 3 on the right border, it calculates a ratio of 4:3
(expressed as 57/43) equivalent to 9 grade. A ratio of 60/40 or
better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back is within the
parameters typically needed for a grade of 9 or higher.
Step 4: Final Score Determination
For each side of your card (front and back), our tool:
- Calculates both the Left to Right score and the Top to Bottom score
- Automatically identifies the lowest of these two scores as the overall centering score for that side
Example: If the Left to Right ratio is 57/43 and the
Top to Bottom ratio is 60/40, our tool will report 60/40 as the overall
measurement (using the lower score).
Grading Interpretation
Our system aims to give you results as close to 50/50
as possible, which represents perfect centering. The closer your card's
measurements are to 50/50, the better the centering grade it can potentially
achieve.
Why Use Our Automated Tool?
- Instant Results: Get centering measurements in seconds instead of manual calculations
- Professional Accuracy: Based on the same standards used by leading grading companies
- Consistency: Eliminates manual tools error.
- Easy to Use: Simply upload your card image and let the technology do the work
- Detailed Analysis: Provides comprehensive breakdowns of all four border measurements

Hybrid Approach – AI + Human Verification
At SSINT, we understand that while AI offers unmatched speed and precision, trading card grading is about trust and market value. That’s why we use a hybrid model — combining the objectivity of AI with the expertise of our professional graders.
How AI Works Best Under Human Oversight:
Error Minimisation: AI excels at detecting tiny imperfections, centering misalignments, and surface inconsistencies that might be missed by the human eye. Certain rare anomalies, like unusual print patterns or holographic effects, are better interpreted with human judgment.
Contextual Understanding: Collectors and the market value cards not just by flaws but by rarity, print variations, and overall eye appeal. Human graders provide the contextual knowledge that AI alone cannot fully grasp.
Continuous Learning: Every card reviewed by an expert becomes feedback for the AI, helping the system refine its accuracy over time. This creates a self-improving hybrid that gets better with every submission.
Trust & Transparency: AI provides objective measurements, but the final grade is validated by a trusted human grader, giving collectors confidence that the grade is both accurate and market-credible.
Individual AI Grading Report: Each card receives its own detailed AI report, highlighting any defects spotted, centering measurements, and preliminary scores for corners, edges, and surface. This allows collectors to see exactly how the AI assessed their card, even before expert verification.
Why This Hybrid Model Sets SSINT Apart:
⚡ Faster Turnaround: AI speeds up preliminary analysis.
📊 Consistent Results: No human bias or fatigue affects the initial evaluation.
🏆 Trusted Validation: Experts ensure every grade aligns with market expectations.
🔍 Enhanced Transparency: Detailed AI reports paired with expert notes allow collectors to understand the reasoning behind every grade.
In short, the SSINT hybrid approach combines the precision of AI and the experience of human graders, resulting in grades collectors can trust — with full visibility through a personalized AI grading report for every card.
